    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist II to join our team in Hunt Valley, Maryland. Seeking an early to mid-career ecologist with skills in wetland and waterway assessment and permitting, ecological assessments, forest evaluations and agency coordination. Must be willing to travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with some overnight stays possible. This position is expected to begin in June 2025.

    The responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited to, the following:

    • Natural resource assessments, planning, regulatory compliance and permitting on projects in Maryland and across the Mid-Atlantic Area.
    • Specific tasks may include field investigations, preparing assessment reports, and coordinating in the field with resource and regulatory agencies and clients.
    • Support routine as well as high profile, complex infrastructure projects by conducting wetland and waterway delineations, associated permitting through Maryland regulatory agencies, and other required natural resource approvals
    • Participate in natural resources fieldwork
    • Prepare written and graphic reports
    • Write well, distilled supporting information in the scientific literature, communicate technical issues to a wide range of readers.
    • Prepare basic data and scientific documents
    • Demonstrate personal role in supporting the marketing of company services by delivering high-quality, accurate work products to external and internal clients.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor´s degree in Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources, or related field plus 2 years of demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • 2 years of direct applicable experience in wetlands delineations, stream, and forest assessments, permitting.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience using software applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and ArcGIS helpful.
    • Experience in performing wetland and stream assessments, biological and forest assessments, and field surveys in the mid- Atlantic region.

    Additional Information

    • Must be willing to travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with some overnight stays possible.
    • This position includes field work where the person may be working in inclement weather conditions, walking long distances in wet and/or uneven terrain and carry equipment that may weigh up to 20 lbs
    • This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in office and field work
    • The selected candidate must be available to work in the Hunt Valley, MD office on a scheduled basis.
    • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
