Job Summary
We are seeking dependable and detail-oriented Janitors / Environmental Services Technicians to join our team. This role is critical in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and hygiene standards of healthcare facilities. The ideal candidate will perform cleaning and janitorial services in compliance with VA and Joint Commission standards to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine cleaning tasks, including but not limited to:
Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
Dusting and disinfecting surfaces, furniture, and equipment.
Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, patient rooms, common areas, and administrative spaces.
Emptying trash and recycling bins and ensuring proper waste disposal.
Follow established schedules for daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning assignments.
Maintain floors through specialized care, including stripping, waxing, buffing, and shampooing carpets.
Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
Replenish supplies, such as soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue.
Follow infection control procedures, including the use of EPA-approved germicidal detergents.
Respond promptly to cleaning requests and emergencies during assigned shifts.
Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor when interacting with patients, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience in janitorial or environmental services roles, particularly in healthcare settings
Military (preferred)
VA Experience (preferred)
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment, supplies, and techniques.
Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift objects up to 50 lbs. for extended periods.
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
Requirements:
Must pass a background check and health screening as required by the VA.
Completion of VA-mandated training, including infection control and safety procedures, before starting.
Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Work Environment
Primarily indoors within healthcare facilities, with potential exposure to cleaning chemicals, infectious waste, and bodily fluids.
Use of appropriate PPE to ensure safety and compliance with infection control standards.
