Overview
A freestanding ER in Tyler, TX is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to join their team. The Environmental Services Technician will strive to provide proficient, competent care while maintaining the patient's sense of comfort and dignity.
Responsibilities for the Environmental Services Technician
- Ensuring that contaminated waste products are securely stored, and storage areas are always locked.
- Cleaning and sanitizing floors, equipment, and furniture according to infection‐control policies.
- Dusting furniture, woodwork and equipment and dust‐mops floors. Polishing and cleaning fixtures in rooms and bathrooms. Wet‐mops rooms, halls, and other areas; shampooing rugs and furniture.
- Knowing proper use, operation, and care of equipment; reporting any needed repairs and/or safety hazards to manager.
- Operating mechanical floor cleaners, buffers, vacuums, snow blowers, shampooers, and related environmental service equipment.
- Cleaning vents, fan fixtures, top of windows, doorframes and other high areas using a ladder.
- Gathering and disposing of trash and waste materials using specified bags or containers per established procedures.
- Moving furniture and other heavy objects as required.
- Performing terminal cleaning procedures of patient rooms and prepares rooms for new occupants; follows isolation procedures in isolation rooms.
- Cleaning and disinfecting all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors, and walls of bathrooms.
- Making supply packs and putting linen stacks in carts for distribution. Taking supply requests and delivering them.
- Delivering linens according to pre‐established par levels and schedules.
- Distributing emergency supplies as needed.
- Keeping records of linen distribution; checking linens supply and listing linen use.
- Keeping work areas neat and orderly, cleaning equipment, and assisting with other cleaning duties as assigned.
- Shoveling snow at all exits and ramps.
- Assisting with evacuations, when needed.
- Reporting any known accidents, observed or suspected violations of Company policy, safety hazard or any unusual occurrence to the department supervisor.

- Able to work unsupervised.

- Displays integrity and honesty.
- Maintains a positive attitude towards patients, guests, and visitors.
- Demonstrates attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Able to follow and adhere to standard policies and procedures.
- Flexibility to meet scheduling demands of department.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to read, speak, and write the English language.
