    JOB OVERVIEW:

    Equest’s Accounting & Finance Manager (AFM) is charged with the responsibility of actively managing Equest’s day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This includes monitoring and analyzing accounting data and producing financial reports, statements, and charts, as well as establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles. The AFM is to monitor changes in legal, regulatory and administrative environments and implement changes in procedures as needed to maintain compliance while maximizing operational and financial results.

    The AFM will work closely with the department managers in producing grant reports, and with the CEO and auditors in preparing information for the annual audit and 990. The AFM will spearhead the development of the annual budget in collaboration with the CEO and the department managers. The Accounting & Finance Manager will develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard the financial assets of the organization.

    DUTIES INCLUDE: (But not limited to)

    Actively managing the day to day accounting and financial operations of the agency

    Managing accounting control systems ensuring the accurate and timely production of accounting information and financial reports.

    Monitoring changes in legal, regulatory and administrative environments and implement changes in procedures and needed to maintain compliance while maximizing operational and financial results.

    Implementing and managing processes for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information to insure effective and efficient financial operations.

    Managing accounts payable using Bill.com

    Managing accounts receivable

    Spearheading the annual budget processing and development, working with managers, CEO, and the Finance Committee to develop a practical and realistic budget for upcoming year. Prepares budget revisions as needed.

    Ensuring records systems are maintained according to state and federal standards and regulations.

    Conducting analytical reviews of the QuickBooks financial reports and insuring preparation of reports for managers, CEO, and Board of Directors. Reports include:

    Departmental reports of budgets vs actuals for managers.

    Revenue and expenditure variance analysis

    Statement of Financial Position (Balance Sheet)

    Profit and Loss financials

    Cash flow projections

    Dashboard with key financial ratios that are significant to the entity

    Capital assets reconciliations

    Management statement

    In charge of bank reconciliations, and internal control procedures. Investigating odd/unusual accounts.

    Providing financial and budgeting guidance and information to management staff.

    Working with the CEO, ensure fixed asset inventory is kept and updated.

    Ensuring an accurate and timely monthly and year-end close along with the timely reporting of all monthly financial information including preparing, analyzing and presenting monthly financial reports for board meetings, and for the department managers.

    Preparing quarterly reports for the City of Dallas as required.

    Incorporating proper accounting methods, policies, and principles – GAAP

    Coordinating with auditor and oversee the completion of annual audits and completion of 990

    Managing the preparation of government and grant reimbursement reports; track program expenses according to grant or funder requirements.

    Preparing financials for the annual report

    Providing oversight of general journal entries

    Assisting with tracking donor restricted contributions

    Assisting with special event financial management and accounting.

    Upholding the vision, mission, and values of Equest as well as an attitude of philanthropy.

    Adhering to all PATH International standards

    Abiding by all regulations, policies, and procedures of the City of Dallas, as they pertain to the Texas Horse Park

    Serving on committees as assigned.

    Attending all staff and board meetings.

    Attending special events

    Maintaining financial security by establishing internal controls

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    The successful candidate must be extremely organized, skilled, and self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and with a diverse and productive team while displaying a positive attitude always. Working with deadlines and under pressure, as well as adhering to confidentiality are vital. A get-it done and passion for excellence are necessary to fit into the Equest culture.

    Minimum BS or BBA in Accounting, Finance, or Related.

    CPA a plus.

    Proven track-record of financial management in non-profit accounting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

    Ability to create and assess financial statements and budgets

    Analytical mind and extremely accurate and detail oriented

    Ability to produce effective reports for the Board, Staff, Annual Report, and Grant Proposals.

    High-level mathematical and problem-solving skills

    Ability to communicate effectively.

    Computer proficiency including Microsoft office, (word, excel, outlook), QuickBooks for Non-Profits and working knowledge of internet and web-based applications.
