    What will you be doing?

    Barclays Capital Inc. seeks Equity Originator in New York, New York (multiple positions).

    • Advise corporations and financial sponsors across all industries on equity-linked issuance, strategic equity derivatives, equity-based financings and structured share repurchase programs.
    • Play a key role in all aspects of transactions including identifying target clients.
    • Prepare pitch presentations for new and existing clients, and perform analysis and valuations of equity linked securities and equity derivatives.
    • Lead transactions by coordinating workstreams among the team, and prepare documentation for transactions and executing transaction processes.
    • Manage multiple assignments and projects, and coordinate with investment banking coverage, product, syndicate, trading, operations, compliance and legal partners.
    • Utilize client management skills in order to understand client’s objectives, problem solve and translate them into revenue generating opportunities.
    • Recruit, mentor, train and supervise several junior team members.
    • May telecommute.

    Salary / Rate Minimum/yr: $300K per year

    Salary / Rate Maximum/yr: $330K per year

    The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

    This position is eligible for incentives pursuant to Barclays Employee Referral Program.

    Purpose of the role

    To raise capital and manage the financial risk of clients, including financial advisory services, identification and origination of market opportunities, research, economic analysis.

    Accountabilities

    • Development and maintenance of strong relationships with corporate, financial and institutional clients to understand their financing needs and objectives.
    • Development and maintenance of complex financial models to assess the value of assets, companies, or securities and identify the most appropriate structuring of capital raising initiatives, including equity financing via an initial public offerings, investment grade debt underwriting, leveraged financing solutions for non-investment grade clients, or derivative hedging solutions. .
    • Collaboration with Coverage, M&A, Syndicate, Global Markets, and cross functional teams to ensure successful origination, company due diligence, and execution of various capital market transactions. .
    • Identification, assessment, and management of risks associated with capital markets transactions and development of risk mitigation strategies in alignment with regulatory requirements. .
    • Research, financial data analysis and continued development of market insights and investment recommendations. .

Or for an individual contributor, they lead organisation wide projects and act as deep technical expert and thought leader, identifying new ways of working and collaborating cross functionally. They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions..
    • Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.
    • Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
    • Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
    • Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
    • Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays, when appropriate.
    • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
    • Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
    • Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
    • Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
    • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
    • Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
    • Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
