    Job Summary: Sean J. Nichols, PLLC, a well-established law firm exclusively practicing estate planning, probate, and elder law, seeks an experienced and dedicated Associate Attorney to join our team. This role focuses on handling probate administration and probate litigation, including supervising support staff. There also may be opportunities to work on estate planning and elder law matters. Key Responsibilities: • Manage probate cases, including estate administration, contested wills, and trust disputes. • Represent clients in probate litigation, including hearings, meditations, and trials. • Draft and review legal documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives. • Advise clients on estate planning strategies and elder law issues, including Medicaid planning. • Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations affecting probate, estate planning, and elder law. • Supervise and delegate tasks to support staff when required. Qualifications: • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and has an active bar license in Michigan. • Minimum of 2 years experience as a practicing attorney. Experience in probate, estate planning, and elder law preferred. • Exceptional legal research, writing, and communication skills. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously. • Client-focused approach with a commitment to delivering personalized legal solutions. Responsibilities: • Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date • Help solve legal problems for clients through analyzing the situation, understanding their needs, and creating a strategic plan of action • Discuss plans with clients for distributing clients’ assets • Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed • Advise clients regarding retirement plans, charitable giving, and insurance options Qualifications: • 4-year degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are necessary for this position • Experience at a legal firm working on estate planning and probate law issues for at least 1-2 years is required • Candidates should be great communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high • Member in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan Compensation: $80,000 - $120,000 yearly
