Description
The Security Estimator works closely with our sales team and high-profile clients, technology consultants, general contractors, manufacturing reps, and distribution teams to design and estimate state-of-art security and network infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Create and communicate complex scopes of work that are accurate, detailed, and minimize risk
- Develop labor estimates across all disciplines to ensure project profitability
- Assist the sales team by attending site-walk and pre-bid meetings; track all site visits and keep detailed information of site conditions for use in the development of accurate cost estimates/bills of material
- Evaluate bid documents and make bid strategy suggestions; generate RFIs as necessary
- Coordinate with vendors to obtain the best solution, most competitive price, and proper lead time on materials
- Create equipment lists to meet design requirements, including all miscellaneous materials
- Provide accurate takeoffs and cost estimates per industry standards and best practices, including input from the Company’s technical staff
- Ensure that all estimating work meets all customer and company quality and safety standards
- Meet bid schedules and deadlines
- Stay up to date with new technologies and continued training while working on new industry certifications
- Act as liaison between Estimating, Project Management and Operations after project is awarded; assist in hand-off meetings and ensure our work meets the expectations of the design and scope of work
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years estimating experience, including previous experience estimating low-voltage systems and use of custom estimating tools or estimating software packages
- Demonstrated knowledge of Intrusion, Access Control and Video Surveillance systems.
- Ability to read prints and specifications and demonstrated skill in writing detailed scopes of work
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with a positive attitude
- Ability to manage multiple projects/estimates and present a high level of organization
- High school diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Ability to estimate AV, Security, GPON, DAS, Public Safety and POE Lighting
- ASIS certification; manufacturer certifications
- OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Accu-Bid ICT
