Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Event Sales and Services, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Solicit and book catering business in the following area: Social, Food & Beverage Outlets, Cultural, Local Corporate and Holidays.
Respond to catering leads within a timely manner.
Schedule and conduct site visits with clients (willingness to work in the evenings and on weekends will be necessary).
Create and send all catering contracts with accurate information.
Meet with clients and finalize all arrangements to the finest details.
Confirm all event related information with clients
Establish and maintain rapport with clients, prior to and post conference, encouraging repeat business
Assist in completing other paperwork, forecasts, etc. essential in tracking the progress of the department.
Assign suitable space for the various functions (i.e. meetings, food and beverage etc.)
Initiate billing procedures, ensuring any deposits and/or credit applications are received with adequate information and within an acceptable time frame
Develop list of target sources to solicit and update on a weekly basis.
Work as a team in reaching budget goals.
Work within the guidelines set in the Catering Department.
Set appointments and make personal sales calls on the key contacts with each of the targeted sources of local catering business.
Document all Sales calls and generate daily lead sheet to the Director of Events with cc. to Director of Sales.
Attend weekly Catering Sales meeting and report on previous week's efforts and future week's planned calls
Track leads that convert into bookings and issue a report at the end of each month documenting # of leads produced in the month, number of leads converted to bookings, amount of catering revenue generated and number of room nights and room revenue generated, if applicable.
Review past business that has not returned and find out reasons why. Resolicit and visit their workplace. (Invite to lunch, etc.)

Qualifications
Previous leadership experience within a similar role required
Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required
University/College degree in a related discipline preferred
Experience with Opera Cloud and OSEM preferred
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
Highly responsible & reliable
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Have knowledge of food and beverage service and preparation (including cultural, i.e., kosher foods)
Understand and control food and labor costs.
Frequently change from one activity to another, for example, writing a speech, giving a speech, and writing a report of campaign progress.
Understand how different kinds of people react to words, pictures and color. Work with a diverse cliental.
Visa Requirements: Must have proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
