The DEI Community Program Manager will develop and manage diversity and community outreach programs to encourage engagement for Exelixis employees and partners. The manager will work closely with internal stakeholders, community groups, not-for-profit organizations, and business leaders to ensure initiatives, resources and tools are effectively used to evaluate and enhance programs.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Serve as an advisor, expert, and change agent for cultural diversity initiatives. In partnership with Exelixis business strategy, conduct ongoing consultation and support to leaders and teams. • Support Exelixis efforts to increase engagement and outreach for DEI programs in our community. Recognize and respond to regional and local community needs, issues and initiatives with appropriate outreach tools. • Facilitate creation and support of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) including advising groups on mission statements, event planning, and access to senior leadership. Work with ERG partners to create community outreach opportunities. • Work with HR and senior leaders to create a robust internship program as a key element of how Exelixis develops future scientific talent both for our company and the broader biopharma community. • Partner with external stakeholders and organizations, as well as internal HR and PR to foster additional collaborations in DEI and Community Outreach space. Participate on boards and committees in the local community that support outreach to underrepresented and vulnerable groups.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: • No supervisory responsibilities
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: Education: • Bachelor's degree (B.A/B.S.) from four-year college or university; and a minimum of 7 years related experience and/or training, or • Master’s degree (M.A./M.S.) and a minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training. • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: • Five years of full-time professional Community Outreach or Community Engagement experience • DEI Strategy planning, training or implementation • Developing employee culture related programs, strategies, communication and learning • Participation or Leadership in Employee Resource Groups or Affinity Groups • Experience with project management or consulting
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • An excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to educate and influence through formal and informal communications. • Recognition of the importance of being highly responsive to the needs of senior management, colleagues and staff. • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in field of specialty as well as general understanding and knowledge of other related disciplines • Performs a variety of complicated tasks.
Job Complexity: • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. May also work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
