    Job Description

    Exordium Engineering is searching for Container Design Engineer to support their rapidly growing bottle design services team. We serve the best brands from around the world in support of the latest PET technology needs.

    Exordium Engineering is looking for a motivated Container Design Engineer wanting to work with the latest engineering technology developing the next generation of PET bottles. You will be part of our “Pellet-to-Pallet” process, following a traditional product design process to provide sketches, renderings, models & presentations of new ideas for stretch blow-molded containers. You will work as a team to introduce new ideas into the marketplace using our 2D, 3D CAD, FEA simulation, visualization tools and 3D printers. Communication and collaboration skills are mandatory. Candidates should possess an innate ability to visualize in 3D and be an out-of-the-box thinker to bring new innovation in a well-defined industry.

    JOB TYPE:

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or Industrial Design. Experience in the product design and development of plastic blow-molded containers.

    TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE:

    Experienced with extrusion and stretch blow molding for bottles.

    Deep proficiency with 3D CAD software, such as CATIA (preferred), SolidWorks or Siemens NX.

    Experienced using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) such as Abaqus, Ansys, Nastran NX, or NRC BlowView.

    Experienced with 3D rapid prototype printers to make physical models of your designs using 3D printers.

    Creation of photorealist renderings.

    Experienced with PDM/PLM.

    PREFERRED SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

    Effective oral and written and skills.

    Ability to work independently without supervision.

    Ability to interpret and create 2D engineering drawings.

    Ability to present your ideas in person or via Teams directly to current and prospective customers.

    Ability to edit your designs “live” during an interactive customer presentation to drive a successful result.

    Ability to create freehand sketches and color renderings using Concepts, Photoshop, Illustrator programs.

    Graphic design skills to create compelling visual presentations of your ideas, using Microsoft Office, Concepts App and Adobe Creative Suite apps, such as Photoshop and Illustrator.

    Ability to multi-task.

    PET DESIGN EXPERIENCE:

    Provide customers with innovative PET-focused package designs that include brand intent, blow ability and optimum performance.

    Ensure the packaging solutions will withstand performance aspects such as top load, drop test, squeeze ability and shape conformance through experience with PET design.

    Develop both bottle and preform designs engineered to be compatible.

    Assess preforms for compatibility. Perform stretch ratio calculations and provide technical reviews and recommendations as needed.

    Provide deep PET technical reviews and recommendations as needed.

    PROJECT MANAGEMENT

    Lead PET projects from a Design POV

    Work with Sales, and Customers to develop a concise Design Briefs

    Identify Internal and external customer needs from conceptual ideas to meet and exceed client expectations.

    Interact with internal resources (Sales, Project Management, Process Engineering, Procurement, etc.) as well as Customers and external vendors to resolve any technical issues and drive project success.

    Interface and coordinate efforts with our Project Management team.
