    Job Summary:

    We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Preschool Director to support the Director in managing the preschool’s daily operations while ensuring compliance with Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) Child Care Licensing regulations. This role involves assisting with staff supervision, curriculum implementation, parent communication, and ensuring a high-quality early learning environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the preschool in accordance with Arizona childcare licensing requirements.

    Support staff in lesson planning and classroom management aligned with Arizona Early Learning Standards.

    Help maintain compliance with licensing, health, and safety regulations, including maintaining accurate records.

    Manage staff schedules, records, and other administrative duties.

    Act as a point of contact for parents and address concerns as needed.

    Support hiring, training, and evaluating staff.

    Step in as Acting Director when necessary.

    Assist with event planning, enrollment, and marketing efforts.

    Qualifications & Requirements (Per Arizona Licensing Guidelines):

    Per the Arizona Administrative Code R9-5-401, an assistant director must meet one of the following qualifications:

    Education & Experience Options:

    High School Diploma or GED plus

    At least 2 years of verifiable full-time experience in a licensed early childhood program with at least 6 months in a leadership role (e.g., Lead Teacher, Assistant Director, or Director); OR

    60 credit hours from an accredited college or university, with at least 24 in early childhood education, child development, or a closely related field and 6 months of experience as an Assistant Director or in a leadership role; OR

    Associate’s degree or higher in early childhood education, child development, or a closely related field with at least 3 months of full-time experience as an Assistant Director or in a leadership role; OR

    A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with at least 3 months of full-time experience as an Assistant Director or in a leadership role in a licensed early childhood program.

    Additional Experience Requirements:

    Minimum 6 months of experience as an Assistant Director or in a leadership role in a licensed childcare facility.

    Other Requirements:

    Must be at least 21 years old (per Arizona law)

    Must pass a background check and obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (required under A.R.S. § 41-1758.07).

    Must complete CPR and First Aid certification (or obtain within 90 days of hire).

    Must complete Arizona-specific Assistant Director training, including licensing and child development courses as required by ADHS.

    Knowledge of Arizona’s health and safety regulations for childcare facilities.
