We are growing fast and we need an experienced attorney who can hit the ground running. We love to help people learn and grow. We need an associate with experience in Children's law as it relates to special education or school discipline. The ideal candidate will be able to take initiative on work that needs to be done and complete tasks with minimal hand-holding. This can be either a part-time or full-time position where you are expected to manage a caseload. Initial employment compensation will be based on your experience, with opportunities for increases after that. There is an opportunity for bonus compensation for those who can demonstrate their profitability. Responsibilities: If these statements appeal to you, then you may be our next hire: • Possesses strong organizational abilities. • Effectively advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action. • Work closely with paralegals and senior associate attorney(s) to ensure swift action through the special education and school discipline processes. • Heavily focused on legal research, drafting, reviewing, and editing a large number of support letters, personal statements, and cover letters. • Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills to discuss strategy with clients and educate clients on matters of special education and school discipline process. • Attend school meetings as needed and assist with the management of special education and school discipline matters. • Possess a high degree of accountability and responsibility to ensure that special education and school discipline matters are managed in accordance with the client's intentions. • Independently maintain and manage individual casework, including contacting private and governmental agencies to move the case forward as needed. • Enter client notes and billable time into the Case Management System. Qualifications: • Experience in special education (personal or professional) or school discipline. • Barred in California or another State. • A Juris Doctor degree is required from an accredited law school. • Wide range of knowledge regarding children law law-related topics. • Candidates should be great communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high. Compensation: $109,000 - $140,000 yearly
