HSE Technical Assistant (Health, Safety, Environmental)
Job Description
HSE TECHNICAL ASSISTANT
12+ MONTH CONTRACT/PROJECT ASSIGNMENT. WITHIN ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH & SAFETY.
Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines. Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety. Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 3 - 6 Years
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Experience working in a research and/or manufacturing environment
• ASSOCIATES DEGREE IN A RELATED DISCIPLINE (ENVIRONMENTAL, OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY, BIOLOGY OR CHEMISTRY or safety) with a minimum of 5-years’ experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with a minimum of 3-years’ experience
• OHST certification a plus
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Solid working knowledge of EPA, DEEP, DEC, OSHA and DOT regulations • Capable of understanding complex regulatory requirements and applying practical working solutions to meet these requirements • Participating in routine and non-routine auditing for adherence to standards • Assisting with gathering information to prepare safety, health and environmental programs • Assisting with preparing and delivering training • Supporting requirements of HSE programs
SKILLS/ATTITUDE
• Basic knowledge of Biochemistry and/or Molecular Biology a plus
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Able to lift up to 30 lbs • Able to bend, kneel and reach • Capable of working with chemicals of varying degrees of hazards
