    THE ROLE

    We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Extended Day Teacher to join our team. Extended Day is our after-school programming provided to students each day from 3:30-5:30. Extended Day Teachers assist in providing appropriate supervision to a group of students after school, and in the planning and teaching of interactive, creative, and engaging activities. HCS Extended Day Teachers combine the ability to motivate, engage, and educate students in a positive and supportive learning environment.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist in establishing a positive, supportive and engaging learning environment while providing appropriate supervision to students
    • Provide homework assistance
    • Assist in the planning and teaching of interactive, creative and engaging activities
    • Assist in the cleaning/straightening of classroom and equipment before, during, and after the program
    • Support outstanding academic achievement and student character development
    • Build classroom community and relationships with families, participating in a powerful team that ensures all students make outstanding progress
    • Adapt teaching for the benefit of each student and collaborates with other educators for support and ideas
    • Commit to constant professional and personal growth through reflection, feedback, and collaboration
    • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor

    EDUCATION

    • Minimum of High School Diploma, or equivalent
    • CPR/First Aid training preferred; will be provided if necessary

    COMPENSATION

    Compensation for this role is $35/hour. Extended day teachers work Monday through Friday, from 3:00pm to 6:00 pm. We currently have 2 open positions: 1 for after school every day, the other 1 for only Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week.

Please note that this role is classified as an independent contractor. As such, the individual(s) hired will be responsible for paying their own taxes and Heartwood Community School is not responsible for withholding taxes on their behalf.
