Job Summary
We are seeking a Financial Aid Advisor to join our team! As a Financial Aid Advisor, you will be directly involved in assisting both new and existing students to determine their eligibility for financial aid, as well as help them fill out and file the appropriate paperwork. You will also be responsible for maintaining an open line of communication with students and their families, assisting with loan counseling, and providing general guidance to students looking for higher education. The ideal candidate is someone who is proficient with computers and technology, is familiar with the financial aid system, and can multitask effectively.
Responsibilities
Review financial aid applications to determine the extent of financial need and make award determinations within title IV regulatory guidelines and repackage students in subsequent award years.
Conduct R2T4 pro-rata calculations for student financial aid refunds; notify the appropriate funding agency of refund and amount.
Conduct personal interviews with applicants and students regarding financial aid.
Conduct in-person initial and exit loan counseling with Federal Direct Subsidized Stafford Loan or Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan borrower regarding loan obligations, repayment plans and the possible consequences of loan default.
Determine and process scholarships and grants such as State grants and available Felbry School loans or scholarships.
Validate student aid reports to include IPEDS, COD system, etc.
Connect with the Dean of Nursing/Dean of General Education and others to determine students not meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress policy.
Make sure Students receive updated Financial Aid publications, manuals, and forms.
Participate in the formulation of student aid policies, procedures and operations.
Maintains College regulatory compliance in all federal and state student assistance programs; submits reports to federal and state agencies.
Attend off-campus workshops and department meetings scheduled on a rotating campus basis.
Serve as liaison with other College offices such as Enrollment Services, Accounts’ Office, and the Registrar’s office.
Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other employees
Conducts financial aid and financial literacy workshops for prospective and continuing students
Contributes in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that ensures accuracy and equity in the delivery of financial aid programs by providing input, as needed
Performs other related duties within the job grade and job classification as assigned
Qualifications
Maintain the highest level of integrity and confidentiality with students and their information
Deep understanding of the financial aid systems and process, student loans, and the student experience
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with computers, including Microsoft Office suite
Strong organizational skills
Ability to multitask
Associate Degree or Higher in a relevant or related field
