  • Responsibilities

    Role: The Business Development Coordinator develops and executes marketing strategies to achieve organizational goals by cultivating new business and strengthening relationships with existing Select Employer Groups (SEG), Preferred Businesses and community partners. This person effectively uses marketing techniques, public relations and educational opportunities to promote the credit union and its products and services.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    • Nurture existing relationships using a variety of engagement methods designed to increase participation, account usage and trust of First Service as their primary financial institution. Plan and coordinate special events, presentations and webinars to promote financial education and subject matter on relevant products and services. Attend SEG sponsored events and employee orientations. Host enrollment events at SEG locations or nearby First Service branch locations to open accounts and cross-sell opportunities.

    • Identify prospective SEG’s to increase our overall SEG footprint. Prepare and present SEG/Preferred Partner proposals; selling the benefits of establishing a primary financial partner relationship. Work with branch managers, commercial lending/business officers to obtain leads and business member prospects.

    • Contact SEG’s using a variety of methods; phone, site visits, emails, direct mail and such. Maintain consistent and timely follow up. Ensure we are interacting with SEG at all levels on a regular schedule.

    • Research existing SEG’s to obtain relevant data and insights that reveal strength, value, participation and growth opportunity of the relationship. Evaluate product penetration, memberships, checking accounts, loan dollars. Create SEG groups and use findings to develop a plan of action for high, moderate, and low tier SEG’s. Develop and maintain a prospect list to acquire new SEG’s and Preferred Businesses. Utilize programming to ensure SEGs /Preferred Partners have a unique tracking code and monitor data monthly to ensure accounts are properly assigned. Report weekly activities, updates and results along with a month-end summary report to measure results with original goal(s).

    • Collaborate with marketing team on SEG specific marketing materials, promo items and promotions to ensure accuracy, compliance and guidelines are met.

    • Attend various events in the community to promote the credit union, spread goodwill and generate new leads.

    • Generate new memberships, increase share deposit growth and direct deposit through relationship activities.

    Performance Measurements:

    1. Meet or exceed the credit union's planned market share, assets, loans, and other product/service objectives as stated in the business plan.

    2. Meet the credit unions growth objective with respect to Select Employer Groups (SEG) and Preferred Partners.

    3. Provide recommendations to management, based on current research data, SEG feedback and opportunity ratings regarding strategies and direction the credit union should take.

    4. Accomplish duties and assignments in accordance with applicable credit union policy and procedures as well as any state and federal rules and regulations, keeping management informed of any problematic areas.

    5. Reinforce company culture, providing, accurate service and support to all members and associates.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    ** Experience -** One year to three years of similar or related experience.

    _ Education -_ (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).

    ** Interpersonal Skills -** Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

    ** Other Skills -** Requires the ability to build strong relationships both inside and outside the credit union. Requires a high level of self-motivation, adaptability and ability to work and think independently. Requires strong oral, writing, presentation and communications skills. Requires creativity and innovation for finding new and more efficient ways of doing things. Ability to prioritize business commitments, multi-task and schedule work activities so deadlines are met and goals are accomplished in a timely and organized manner. Requires exceptional attention to detail. Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed to represent the credit union at various events. Requires a strong work ethic and the ability to work with a fast-paced team. Must be passionate about personal growth and learning.
