FPGA Digital Design Engineer – Aerospace & Embedded Systems
Location: Onsite – Irvine, CA
Type: Full-Time
Compensation Range: $150,000 – $170,000 (depending on experience)
Are you an FPGA design engineer looking to take full ownership of real-world projects? Join a team building mission-critical hardware and embedded systems used in advanced aerospace and defense applications.
This is a hands-on design role where you'll work closely with cross-functional teams to bring high-reliability electronics from concept to production. Whether you're designing a board from scratch or debugging a prototype on the bench, you'll have a direct impact on systems used in the air and beyond.
What You’ll Do
- Design, implement, and verify FPGA-based solutions for embedded systems and test equipment
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and test teams to deliver production-ready hardware
- Work with real-world communication protocols like CAN Bus, MIL-STD-1553, and ARINC-429
- Support simulation, bring-up, and hardware validation using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and HDL simulators
- Document your work in a clear and organized way, contributing to both internal and customer-facing deliverables
- Participate in team discussions, share ideas, and learn from others working on exciting aerospace and defense tech
We’d Love to See Some of the Following
(Don't worry if you don’t check every box — if this sounds like your kind of work, we want to hear from you.)
- Experience with FPGA design (e.g., Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL)
- Exposure to simulation or verification tools (ModelSim, QuestaSim, Vivado, Quartus, etc.)
- Familiarity with Xilinx, Intel (Altera), or Microchip FPGAs
- Interest in or experience with embedded systems or aerospace/military protocols
- Comfort working hands-on in a lab environment to debug and test hardware
- A collaborative mindset, a passion for solving technical challenges, and a desire to build something meaningful
- A technical degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
