Objective:
The Franchise Business Consultant (FBC) acts in an advisory capacity to our retail franchise store owners and is responsible for fostering communications, assists in providing stellar guest service training, system standards, and compliance via phone, virtual contact, and personal visitation throughout the duration of each store owner’s contract with The Spice & Tea Exchange®. This vital position focuses on store business objectives, including the achievement of sales, profitability goals, compliance, and daily operations through education, partnership, and collaboration. This individual will demonstrate excellent relationship building skills to establish an exceptional service and partnership culture, inspiring our signature guest experience within The Spice & Tea Exchange® stores.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Develop a clear, comprehensive, and consistent execution of the Company’s business model.
Financial reporting and analysis of the store’s P&L and balance sheet; identifies and reports on franchisee sales trends and coaching opportunities, investment return and profitability.
Assist franchisees with growth initiatives and unit economics through the analysis of financial information, pricing and product mix strategies.
Build partnerships through collaboration and trust; establishes rapport, while ensuring field compliance and generating partnership and buy-in among franchise bases.
Provide strong leadership in guest service and team development; inspire and motivate franchise teams to “create and share” The Spice & Tea Exchange® experience in all aspects of store operations.
Provide guidance for conducting Local Store Marketing (LSM) efforts, special events and establishing community partnerships; promote knowledge of current industry trends and purchasing behaviors.
Assist franchisees with implementing merchandising strategies as required of the franchise system and in alignment with company best practices, quarterly campaigns, and sales initiatives.
Regularly conduct timely calls and check-ins with assigned franchise base.
Regularly travel to conduct site visits and annual evaluations; approx. 70% travel expectation.
Document historical performances for assigned franchise locations via established reporting systems.
Collect feedback from the field to contribute to and improve various training materials, policies, and franchising documentation.
Promote, manage, and ensure franchisee’s compliance with The Spice & Tea Exchange’s® operating standards and procedures.
Remain up to date on interdepartmental projects, tools, and resources to assist franchisees.
Maintain project responsibilities, short-term and long-term, while providing follow through and communication to assigned franchise locations.

Knowledge and Job Requirements:
Degree in Business, Management, Communications, or equivalent consulting experience.
2-5 years of consulting experience within multi-unit specialty retail industry, franchise preferred (not including QSR).
District management, area management, or team lead experience, a plus.
Working proficiency with P&L and balance sheets, costs, margins, and profitability exercises.
Experience with POS systems and retail management systems; proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Proven self-motivated starter; energetic and customer service focused.
Persuasive, results-driven to drive effective growth and retention.
Tendency to pepper in humor into daily conversations (pun intended).
Teambuilding and project management skills.
Stellar business communication skills, written and oral.
Detail oriented with strong organizational and project-management skills.
Inclination to quote movies and lyrics in general discussions.
Ability to analyze situations, identify improvements, and coach franchise owners and managers on ways to improve their operational performance.
Able to observe, detect, and identify issues pertaining to computers, POS system, and training and communication barriers.
Less than one hour proximity to a major international airport for efficient traveling requirements.
Physical Requirements:
When onsite, must be able to stand and move about for extended periods of time, 10-12 hours, up to 100% of the time.
Ability to move 30 lbs. throughout the office and on location.
Consistently work around spices; must not be sensitive to various scents and aromas.
No travel restrictions: ability to work varied and extended days on site including weekends, as necessary.
