Facilitator, Ada Build Live & Computer Science Fundamentals (Temp; PT)
Ada Developers Academy (Ada) is a non-profit, tuition-free coding school for women and gender expansive adults. We primarily serve and address the needs of Black, Latine, Indigenous, and Pacific Islander communities, low income people, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Our program consists of two highly immersive parts: six months of focused instruction, and five months of internship at partner companies, where students refine their skills working on real-world code. Ada also provides programming for individuals who seek to embark on a journey to learn how to code, including Ada Build and Ada Build Live.
About this position
Under the direction of the Technical Program Director, the Ada Build Live & Computer Science Fundamentals Facilitator will lead live sessions of Ada Build Live and Computer Science Fundamentals to participants in Ada’s respective programs. This role includes facilitating Ada Build Live sessions, an introductory course in Python fundamentals for beginner programmers, as well as facilitating Computer Science Fundamentals sessions to help Ada students prepare for technical interviews and their job search.
This is a temporary, part-time, non-benefited position, with a schedule of approximately 10-15 hours per week on average for a duration of 5 months, beginning in mid-February 2025.
Core responsibilities
Facilitate Ada Build Live
Lead and facilitate live instruction sessions for Python fundamentals
Lead engaging in-class exercises and provide responsive guidance during project time, while fostering stimulating lecture discussions
Encourage and motivate participants to own their learning, empowering them to understand the material for themselves

_ Facilitate Computer Science Fundamentals_
Facilitate weekly instructional sessions covering key computer science concepts, such as:
Data Structures such as Linked Lists, Binary Search Trees, and Graphs
Common algorithmic approaches (Recursion, Divide & Conquer, Big-O Analysis, Dijkstra’s Algorithm)
Grade assignments and assessments as needed, providing timely and constructive feedback to students
Communicate student progress to the Technical Program Director, recommending areas for improvement and additional support
Other duties as assigned
