About Us: Sparling Instruments is an instrumentation manufacturing company located in El Monte, California. We take pride in producing accurate and robust measurement products in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to lead in the setup of a new facility, and to ensure our operations at this facility are set up and continue to run smoothly. This is a hands-on role that combines electrician, plumbing, maintenance, and custodial/janitorial responsibilities that maintain the functionality, safety, and cleanliness of the facility.
Job Description: As the Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will be leading the setup of the new facility, to include the installation of new electrical/air lines, as well as the safe movement and installation of existing items and equipment. After the facility is set up and operational, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks within the facility. This role requires a versatile skill set, spanning electrical, plumbing, welding and sanitation duties. The position will work closely with executives and production managers to ensure that all equipment, systems, and workplace facilities are well-maintained and meet operations safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform general electrical maintenance, including repairing and replacing electrical systems, wiring, and fixtures.
Handle plumbing repairs and installations, including leaks, drainage, faucets, and toilets.
Handle occasional welding duties (as needed).
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of the building and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Maintain HVAC systems, ensuring they are in good working order.
Perform janitorial duties as required, including cleaning restrooms, offices, break rooms, and common areas.
Manage and organize tools, supplies, and maintenance equipment.
Assist in setting up and maintaining production equipment when needed.
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
Ensure that all work complies with local building codes and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in facilities maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, and janitorial work.
Experience with welding and use of welding equipment.
Knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
Ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of systems and equipment.
Experience working with service and maintenance manuals.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Basic understanding of safety protocols and OSHA/CalOSHA standards.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Flexibility to respond to after-hours maintenance emergencies when necessary.
High school diploma or equivalent (trade school or trade certification preferred).
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and walk for extended periods.
Comfortable working with hands and using power tools.
Comfortable with occasional use of heavy machinery.

Job Detail:
Full-time, non-exempt
Pay: $24 - $30 per hour
Overtime: Occasional (as needed)
