Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Human Resources & Facilities, the Facilities Maintenance Technician (FMT) holds responsibility for maintaining the High Desert PACE Center, guaranteeing compliance with legal standards and upholding health and safety protocols. The FMT conducts ongoing preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems, such as fire and security alarms. This position entails coordinating daily building maintenance activities, both reactive and preventive. Collaborating with the Program Director, the FMT participates in delivering health and safety education to staff and participants on a scheduled basis. Additionally, the FMT serves as the primary point of contact for facility-related emergencies, which may necessitate evening and weekend availability.
Responsibilities |· Monitors, maintains, and performs standard repairs to building electrical facilities and systems, such as bulbs, fixtures, switches, and outlets; assists licensed electricians with non-technical repairs as appropriate. · Perform on going preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems. · Perform general maintenance (e.g. change light bulbs, maintain exterior property, etc.) and manual repairs as needed using various tools and materials (i.e. welding equipment, ladders, power saws, hammer, drills, etc.) · Replace/Update inoperable materials and appliances (i.e. window glass, sinks, doors, smoke alarms, cabinets, shelves, tile, light fixtures, filters, etc.) · Manage preventive maintenance contracts (including monitoring and coordinating Preventive maintenance schedules) for the HVAC, alarms and other facility equipment or installed systems, pest control etc. · Monitors and performs non-technical maintenance of plumbing systems, to include standard repair of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines, installing water coolers, and/or performing non-technical modifications to plumbing and water supply systems; assists licensed plumbers, as appropriate. · May assist in maintaining water treatment and storage system. · May perform general maintenance, custodial, and trash removal tasks. · May repair kitchen equipment.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. · Documents facilities maintenance requirements maintains appropriate records of work performed. · Respond to emergencies- as directed by Program Director/VP of Ops for all facility related emergencies (Including but not limited to fire alarms, HVAC system alarms, security alarms, etc.). Includes monitoring and responding to building security/fire system alarms which may require work even during off work hours, weekends and holidays. · Review and understand equipment and methods of operations, Building Automation System (BAS), safety and security, and other systems. · Perform facility inspections, prepare and submit reports of conditions in the building and recommend actions to be taken. · Maintain compliance to City, County, State ordinance and codes. · Support any afterhours building needs and activities as required. · Maintain the plans for fire evacuation, disaster response, up-to-date records for all state, federal and insurance semiannual and annual inspections, warranties, maintenance requirements and the implementation of scheduled servicing for key assets. · Assist in budget preparation with Program Director and ensure it is followed. · Works with the Day Center Manager, to ensure office and facilities supplies are at a level that will allow the office operations to run at optimal levels. · Provides logistical support for meetings and other PACE activities, which includes coordinating clean up service for the event, office meeting rooms set-up as required, monitoring/adjusting security set up for doors, and HVAC needs. · Works with quality system internal audit to complete audit of facilities for ISO Certification. · Implements purchasing and inventory process for fixed assets and office supplies in compliance with the approved budget (including preparing purchase orders and reconciling related monthly invoices for approval and payment). · Work with Program Director in developing scheduling and conducing in-services related to fire, health and safety standards.
Education & Training · High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. · Minimum of 2 years’ experience performing facilities maintenance · Dependable transportation (truck or van) w/ active auto insurance · Familiar with tools, basic plumbing, basic electrical knowledge, and attention to detail · Valid California driver's license with clean driving record (provide NV DMV driver history printout) · OSHA 10-hr- preferred
Skills & Abilities · A thorough knowledge of general maintenance procedures along with a skill set that includes basic proficiencies in some or all of the following: plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, electrical/mechanical systems · Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point · Experience and familiar with Maintenance Workorder Scheduling system.
· Valid First Aid and AED certification would be an asset. · Knowledge of basic internet and email operations · Ability to perform and manage technically complex projects using independent judgment and personal initiative. · Strong oral and written communication skills · Strong customer and interpersonal skills are essential. · Aptitude for organizing tasks, managing time, and prioritizing projects. · Must exhibit sound judgment, tact, courtesy daily, and have excellent rapport with staff members. · Ability to develop strong relationships with other internal departments. · Excellent time management and task tracking skills · Previous experience in building maintenance and construction trades, i.e. plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, tile, etc. · Familiarity with construction tools and equipment. Must have own basic hand tools. · Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening test. · Must possess good communication skills, both written and verbal · Ability to handle physical workload. · Deadline and detail oriented.
Working Conditions · Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises. · Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds. · Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
