    Job Description

    Position Overview

    The Facilities Manager will oversee all aspects of facilities management and maintenance to ensure KIPP Kansas City campuses are safe, functional, and conducive to high-quality learning. This role includes managing building operations, leading maintenance staff, coordinating vendor relationships, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Facilities Operations

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive facilities maintenance plan to support school operations.
    • Manage daily building operations, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and custodial services.
    • Coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance schedules to ensure optimal functioning of all facilities.

    Safety & Compliance

    • Ensure all facilities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety codes.
    • Conduct routine inspections and implement corrective actions to address any issues.
    • Serve as the point of contact for safety drills, emergency planning, and crisis management related to facilities.

    Vendor Management & Budget Oversight

    • Select and manage external vendors and contractors, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective services.
    • Oversee contracts and service agreements for facilities-related services (e.g., janitorial, landscaping, security).
    • Track and manage the facilities budget, including forecasting, spending, and cost control measures.

    Project Management

    • Lead facilities-related projects, such as renovations, expansions, or capital improvements, from inception to completion.
    • Develop and maintain a long-term facilities improvement plan aligned with KIPP Kansas City’s strategic goals.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Associate’s degree in facilities management, engineering, or a related field (preferred); equivalent experience may be considered.
    • At least 3-5 years of experience in facilities management, building operations, or a related role, preferably in a school or nonprofit setting.
    • Proven experience managing budgets and facilities project management.

    Additional Information

    Work Environment

    • Reports to work Monday-Friday and some weekends.
    • A typical school or office environment with frequent interruptions.

    Travel Requirements:

    • Ability to travel to work location.
