SUMMARY OF POSITION Falvey Insurance Group is one of the largest Marine Insurance MGAs in the country and was founded on the pillars of Technology and Operational Excellence. The Data Analyst role is critical to the expanding strategy of the group as the position is expected to leverage problem-solving, statistical methods, and internal datasets to contribute clarity, transparency, and insight throughout the organization.
The position supports the business’s goals by acting as a bridge between stakeholders and Falvey’s increasing volume of accessible data, working to clarify business questions and determining the best methodology/tools to find answers. The candidate is expected to be able to communicate and problem solve via direct interaction with all aspects of the business and industry leaders.
The position is essentially a mix between handling day to day data requests (e.g. for Audits, Reporting Requirements, Internal Initiatives) and bringing a data-driven, statistical mindset to complicated problems throughout the business (Portfolio Performance, Operational Excellence, and Marketing/Customer Engagement Strategies).
POSITION FUNCTIONS The role will have the following main responsibilities:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Demonstrate effective interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills through both verbal and written communication with the ability to share knowledge and work effectively in a team environment in a professional manner with all level of company staff including management and other departments as well as Company clients.
Ability to work independently and use personal computer, calculator, company automation system and proficiency in various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat. Must have model creation experience and experience with research via web and other sources.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, or other Business field is required. Additional business work experience is preferred. Advanced Excel Skills are Required
Experience with a programming language or Statistical Package (R, Python, Matlab, Stata, VBA); statistical methods (Time Series, Regressions); or BI Platforms (PowerBI, Tableau, DOMO) are a plus.
Experience with Insurance Data or Actuarial Science is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to sit and work quietly for extended periods of time, operate a computer, lift heavy file boxes, and answer and communicate on a telephone.

WORKING CONDITIONSBusiness-casual fast paced multi-tasking office environmentHOURS OF OPERATION: This position works Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, 5 days per week. This position requires and allows for flexibility working additional hours to accomplish project objectives.
