Responsibilities: • Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process • Assist clients effectively by understanding their needs analyzing the situation then strategizing and deciding on a proper course of action • Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed • Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current • Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for various cases Qualifications: • Extra consideration for those with a criminal justice background • Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high • Proven record of success in advocating for plaintiffs and defendants • At least 1-2 years of working in a law firm on family law issues as well as real estate (determining marital property) is necessary • 4-year degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are necessary for this position • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of MD (strong consideration for licensure in DC) • Prior experience representing clients in hearings, trials, and mediation required • Persuasive writing skills and verbal communication skills are critical, along with management of support staff and interpersonal skills • Great legal research skill is a must Compensation: $135,000 - $170,000 DOE
