    Our law firm is seeking a family attorney who can assist clients in navigating the sensitive legal issues of family law, including child custody, child abuse, and domestic violence. Responsibilities: • Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date • Draft pleadings, motions, contracts, marital settlement agreements, judgements, and orders for a high volume of cases • Ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings as needed • Handle the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings as needed • Help solve legal problems for clients through analyzing the situation, understanding their needs, and creating a strategic plan of action Key Responsibilities: • Develop case strategies, provide leadership, and guide paralegals and legal assistants • Handle full caseloads independently, from case inception to resolution • Conduct in-depth legal research and prepare memos on complex case issues • Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and contracts as needed • Appear in court for various family law proceedings, representing clients in high-stakes situations • Prepare clients for trials, advocate on their behalf, and work with experts when necessary • Oversee division of marital assets and negotiate settlements in divorce cases • Maintain organized client files, ensuring documentation accuracy and timeliness Qualifications: • Extra consideration for those with a criminal justice background • Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high • At least 1-2 years of working in a law firm on family law issues as well as real estate (determining marital property) is necessary • Strong knowledge base of representing plaintiffs and defendants • Active member of the ABA (American Bar Association) Who We’re Looking For:Experience: Minimum of 10 years in Family Law litigation and courtroom advocacy (required) • Licenses: Licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia • Skill Set: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strategic problem-solving, and attention to detail • Mindset: A compassionate and resilient advocate with experience navigating high-stress, emotional cases with a client-focused approach • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in analyzing and summarizing legal documents with strong attention to detail • Team-Focused: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a supportive team environment Preferred Qualifications: • Estate Planning experience • Proven success in advocating for both plaintiffs and defendants • Strong negotiation skills, especially under stressful conditions Ready to Make a Difference?
