BASIC FUNCTION: Produce high quality artisan bread and bread products from scratch and bread-related innovative breakfast & lunch offerings in a high-volume Artisan Bakery and Café. Please do not apply if you do not have a minimum of one year commercial bread baking experience. The position is located in our Laguna Hills location.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE
•High school diploma or equivalent
•Culinary degree preferred, not required.
•Minimum of one year experience in a bakery / hotel or restaurant.
•Strong organizational skills
•Excellent communication skills
•Must be able to read and execute established recipes
•A passion and love for food and service must be evident
•Able to prepare a wide variety of bread products from scratch
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned.
Determines production and ensures the accuracy, quality and consistency of foods
Ensures proper storage and labeling of food
Oversees and maintains safety and sanitary standards in production areas according to the State’s Health Code and internal standards
Responsible for creation of all bread-related goods applicable to the bakery menu and use of equipment to increase efficiency and safety of the operations
Ability to work in a team-driven environment, take direction, offer direction and assist with problem solving
Establish and maintain a positive, professional relationship with co-workers through effective, accurate, timely, and reliable communication and action.
ENVIRONMENT:
· The environment for this position includes the need to be mobile throughout bakery, to include standing and walking for more than 8 hours a day.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Manual dexterity, good eye-hand coordination, and good balance are necessary.
Ability to work and move at a production rate of speed.
Ability to be friendly, courteous, tactful and maintain composure in dealing with co-workers.
Must possess good communication skills and be able to read and follow written instructions.
Must maintain professionalism during both peak and slower periods.
Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to knives, ovens, mixers and other work aides necessary to perform job duties.
Frequent exposure for brief periods of time to 03° Fahrenheit while handling products in the walk-in and freezer. Working conditions consist of a commercial kitchen production area in a temperature-controlled environment.
Hands are frequently exposed to water and cleaning agents.
