Job Summary

*A bachelor's degree in social work is preferred for this role.
The Family Connection Coordinator is responsible for conducting relative searches for caseworkers of Utah's Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) who are looking for family members of children in foster care in Utah, and providing administrative support, planning, and coordinating of programs and associated activities within established service areas ensuring the successful completion of programs that support the mission and deliverables required. This position works directly with our partners at DCFS, Raise the Future program leaders, families, child welfare professionals, volunteers, and various internal and external stakeholders, and may serve as a first point of contact for families (e.g., reunified biological families, foster families, kinship families, and pre & post-adoptive families) helping them identify, locate, and access information and resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
90% Programmatic Duties - Manage the day-to-day activities around diligent search efforts to find absent parents and unidentified family members for children under protective custody. Depending on location and assignment, these activities may include the following duties and responsibilities:
Respond to DCFS referrals for relative search efforts within a tight timeline.
Utilizing public databases, phone call, text messages and social media to find absent/missing parents, relatives and fictive kin of children placed into the child welfare system.
Frequently communicate with Raise the Future team and DCFS identified liaison.
Corresponding with DCFS to ensure legal timelines are met for diligent search efforts.
Creating search letters sent to family members, sending search letters out, and contacting interested relatives to build the child's network of support and possible placement options.
Organizing, case noting, and utilization of calendar and excel to ensure correct dates and efforts are maintained in timely a timely manner.
Utilize Connect our Kids, Family database to organize information about people contacted and track two-way communication.
Keeping track of search referrals through excel and organize next steps to ensure DCFS and State timelines on search activities.
5% Reports and Data Entry:
Prepare reports and other records pertaining to program activities.
Accurately, and timely submit monthly reports for assigned service areas.
Record hours worked within time keeping system.
Submit expense, mileage and credit card report, as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
This is a remote position with the expectation of working in a private space. This position also may require you to attend meetings with partners and vendors in settings outside the office. A considerable amount of time is spent sitting at a desk using a computer and telephone and attending meetings.
Salary Range: $19.00 - $22.50 / hour
