Our law group is growing and we are looking for a sharp family attorney who will zealously represent our clients in all areas of family law. You’ll assist individuals in a variety of situations such as navigating prenuptial agreements and attending court hearings for divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child support. The prime candidate will have experience with a range of sensitive legal issues such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence, and be able to maintain composure, negotiate, and argue effectively even in emotional and high-stress situations. Responsibilities: • Handle the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings as needed • Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action • Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients • Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move through the civil litigation process This position will be responsible for important work, including: • Manage full case-handling responsibilities from inception through resolution • Independently handle decision-making on a case-by-case basis. • Develop a strategic approach and provide leadership and direction to paralegals and legal assistants • Work as part of a team with all levels of experience and be open to cross-training for coverage outside the associate duties. • Cultivate relationships with the firm's existing and future clients. • Analyze case-specific legal issues and documentation • Foster and maintain an excellent rapport with clients through consistent communication and thorough advisement Qualifications: • Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred • Experience at a legal firm working on family law and real estate issues (determining marital property) for at least 1-2 years is required • Great negotiation and communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations • Proven record of success in advocating for plaintiffs and defendants • Bachelor’s degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are required • Must have worked in Family Law for at least two years. • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas Compensation: $115,000 - $150,000 yearly
