Responsibilities extend to crafting tailored documents such as modifications and contempt exceptions from the ground up. Additionally, tasks involve organizing trial binders, engaging in billable legal activities, and collaborating closely with our managing attorney. Paralegals are expected to support attorneys in various legal practice duties. Responsibilities: • Prepare trial binders meticulously and ensure efficient organization. • Manage and monitor tasks in the MyCase case management system diligently. • Schedule and oversee timely completion of upcoming tasks. • Accurately and promptly fill out legal forms. • Effectively compose letters and court pleadings. • Adapt and compile standard documents as necessary. • Draft both simple and complex legal paperwork and reports. • Assist the attorney in preparing for hearings and mediations effectively. • Compile trial and mediation notebooks meticulously. • Keep clients updated and gather necessary information through regular communication. • Draft proposed orders, settlement agreements, and parenting plans with precision. • Create motions following legal requirements diligently. • Prepare responses to discovery requests and ensure timely submissions. • Act as a substitute phone receptionist when needed. • Ensure trial preparation starts on time. • Verify all necessary documents are available for court appearances. • Identify and suggest solutions for discovery discrepancies. • Efficiently manage calendar conflicts. • Complete any other assigned duties promptly. • This is a hybrid role requiring 35-40 hours per week. Qualifications: • Must have a minimum of three to five years of experience as a family law paralegal (non-negotiable). • Extensive knowledge and expertise in legal drafting and processes. • Proficient in trial binder preparation. • Possession of a paralegal certificate or an Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies. • Diligent and proactive in advancing cases. • Excellent decision-making skills and capabilities. • Detail-oriented and meticulous. • Strong multitasking abilities. • Self-motivated and driven. • Patient and adaptable. • Willingness to learn new software applications. • Familiarity with Google Drive and G-Suite products. • Previous experience in family law is required. • Estate planning experience is highly desired. • Experience with MyCase (case management system) is highly desired. • Maryland and DC experience is highly desired but not required.
