Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Family Law Litigation Paralegal to join our team. In this role, you will provide support to our trial team and assist in all phases of the litigation process. You will conduct legal research, interview, file documents, and attend trials. The ideal candidate is hardworking and detail-oriented. This individual will assist with case management, e-filing, scheduling, and calendaring, drafting pleadings, preparing financial disclosures, child support worksheets, maintenance worksheets, preparation of propounded discovery and discovery responses, and exhibits and exhibit notebooks. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, have a strong work ethic, and have effective communication skills. Punctuality and the ability to take the initiative on routine case tasks are also necessary.
The candidate must be very organized, be able to communicate effectively, and the ability to prioritize tasks, and be familiar with the Rules of Civil Procedure, specifically C.R.C.P. 16.2, 45, and C.R.C.P. Rule 121 and other rules are absolutely necessary. and the Uniform Dissolution of Marriage Act. The candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, E-filing, Adobe Acrobat, and E-Filing. Relaxed, supportive office environment. The candidate must also be well versed in the typical processes for family law cases, understanding the applicable court rules, the issues involved, and the process for preparing for hearings. All applicants should provide a resume, cover letter, and two professional references. Candidates must be able to start handling an active caseload with little to no training.
Responsibilities
Prepare case-specific documents, including pleadings and draft orders
Ensure that case-related documents are well organized and available for review
Conduct legal research and investigation
Provide general administrative support
Communicate with clients and witnesses
Prepare Exhibits and Exhibit Notebooks
Maintain and update documentation
Assist with discovery requests (preparation and responses)
Qualifications
Previous experience as a Family Law Litigation Paralegal or a similar role is preferred.
Certification or an Associates Degree as a Paralegal is preferred
Familiarity with legal procedures, terminology, and the court system
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized with document management experience
Excellent research skills
Comfortable Microsoft Office and case management software
Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
Working as part of a team is essential
