FUNCTIONS: HEALing Community Center’s Nurse Practitioners are licensed professionals who are responsible for managing health problems and health care for the patients according to State of Georgia rules and regulations. NPs shall exercise the requisite standard of care, defined as the exercise of at least that degree of skill, care, and diligence as would ordinarily be rendered by advanced practice registered nurses, which includes assessment of health status, diagnosis, development, and implementation of treatment plans, plan of care, and evaluation of patient status.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Functions independently to provide health services consisting of health promotion, health screening, management and treatment of acute episodic illness, and management and treatment of stable chronic diseases, in addition to, physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.
Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests, lab work, x-rays, medical devices, medical treatment, and diagnostic studies, when necessary, in the management and treatment of such acute illnesses or stable chronic illnesses relative to the patient’s age-specific needs.
Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability. Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
FNP shall document in writing in each patient’s medical record, electronically or otherwise, those acts performed by FNP
Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
Facilitates patient and family decision-making by providing educational tools.
Qualifications:
Education Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program Current License, Certification, and Registration for the State of Georgia
Bilingual skills are preferred
Experience Minimum of 3 years of nursing. Ambulatory setting experience preferred. Preferred 1-year experience working independently as a Nurse Practitioners/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrate excellent patient experience and organization skills, verbal communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, and the ability to be customer focus, and understand HEAL Community Center customer’s needs Effective computer skills Eligible for hospital privileges

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
General office/clinic conditions are pleasant; good, clean working conditions where accidents and hazards are negligible; requires short periods of moderate lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to twenty pounds. Clear diction and acute hearing are necessary for effective communication with the staff and public.
OSHA Classification Category III: tasks that do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues and the worker can decline to perform tasks that involve perceived risks without retribution.
