    The Greater Burlington YMCA is looking for a Family Programs Coordinator to develop, manage, and enhance Drop-In Member Child Care services and family programs. This role focuses on building strong relationships with families, staff, and participants while increasing Family Membership at the Y.

    What You'll Do:

    Develop & Manage Programs: Enhance family program offerings, improve services, and address community needs.

    Supervise & Support Staff: Assist with recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training for childcare and family programs.

    Schedule & Oversee Operations: Create staff schedules, manage transactions, and ensure smooth program execution.

    Engage with Families: Be present during Sunday Family Programs to support staff and assist families.

    Ensure Program Quality: Maintain high standards in childcare, family programs, and summer camps.

    Coordinate Events: Plan and manage Saturday birthday parties and seasonal family programs.

    Maintain a Safe & Clean Environment: Oversee sign-in/out procedures, reservation systems, and parent communications.

    Evaluate & Improve Programs: Monitor participation and effectiveness, making necessary adjustments.

    Work as a Team: Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Family Programs and other Y staff to meet program goals.

    Schedule & Commitment:

    Year-round, hourly position (32 hours/week).

    Wednesday – Sunday schedule during the academic year, including direct service in Member Child Care and family programs.

    Summer schedule may shift slightly to accommodate responsibilities as the BTV Summer Camp Director.

    What We’re Looking For:

    Experience in program development and management, preferably in childcare or family programming.

    Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

    Excellent organizational and administrative abilities.

    Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with families, staff, and participants.

    Ability to effectively supervise and ensure the safety of children by maintaining visual and auditory awareness in various environments, including classrooms, outdoor play areas, and other program spaces.

    Ability to lift, carry, or support children up to 35 pounds as needed for care, safety, and engagement.

    Ability to engage in active participation in all aspects of the program, including assisting with activities such as swimming and gym lessons. This may involve frequent movement, such as kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, and standing for extended periods.

    Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to the physical and emotional needs of children, including in emergency situations.
