    QUALIFICATIONS:

    At least 16 years of age.

    Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting is preferred but not required.

    Computer literate in hardware and software applications (word processing, database management and spreadsheets).

    CPR/First Aid/AED, Blood borne Pathogens certification, Mandatory Reporter/Child Abuse Prevention certifications, and other required trainings within 30/60/90 days of hire date.

    Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.

    Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

    Excellent written and verbal communications skills and professional demeanor

    Proven customer service skills (in person as well as on the phone)

    Criminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work and signing a statement regarding criminal convictions

    Requires resourcefulness, excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Assist with implementation of program activities within the established guidelines.

    Assist with daily lesson/activity plans to meet the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of the children in your care.

    Responsible for management and organization.

    Have the knowledge in age appropriate discipline techniques and philosophy.

    Have a general understanding of children and their behavior and development.

    Supervises the children in all activities

    Maintain a professional attitude at all times.

    Assists in making ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.

    Maintains communication with parents and engages parents.

    Develop and maintain positive relationships with the children and families.

    Maintains the program site and equipment.

    Maintains required program records.

    Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.

    Must have the knowledge of emergency procedures to ensure safety of children and be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and/or First aid appropriately.

    Support the mission of the YMCA and incorporate the YMCA character development values including Care, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility in our daily routine while working with children, parents, and staff.

    Perform all other duties assigned by the Summer Academy Site Coordinator or Project Director.

    SCHEDULE REQUIRED:

    30-40 hours per week for the duration of the program. Program runs June – August, specific dates TBD. There will also be mandatory training held May 27th.

    Wage Rate: $14/hr
