    POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Aquatics & Sports Director, promote all aquatic and Health & Safety Programs, maintain proper Health and Safety Standards, assist in conducting in-service trainings with lifeguards and swim lesson instructors, as well as assist Aquatics & Sports Director in maintaining pool chemicals, and general supervision of aquatic facility. This position leads all aquatic front line personnel. The Head Lifeguard has staff supervision, member involvement accountability and program development, delivery and evaluation responsibility. Key ingredients for a successful department include programs and services that are values centered and mission driven in an environment that is centered on member service.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Teach all levels of swimming from infant to advanced and master swim classes, being able to improving the technique of the students. • Assist Aquatics Director with planning, implementing, scheduling and evaluating all groups of swim team • Leads aquatic personnel and recruit’s volunteers when necessary. • Assist with in-service training and conducts regular staff meetings. • Responds appropriately and proactively to member concerns. • Effective communication from the department is key to members' satisfaction and member commitment to the Y. • Must know and be able to maintain mechanical functions of the pool and must be aware of risk management in all areas. • Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow staff and members of all ages and background. • Provides leadership and management within the aquatic department. • Assists in marketing program. • Remains current in the field through certifications and training. • Assists the organization and promotion of all programs and assigned special events. • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

    QUALIFICATIONS: The incumbent must bring to the position experience in a related field with aquatic emphasis. The incumbent must be a have the following certifications: Pool Operator, Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, CPR/First- Aid, Water Exercise Instructor, and Water Safety Instructor. The incumbent must be able to organize programs, supervise staff and maintain the facility. Along with all of the qualifications one needs to have motivation, a positive Christian attitude and be a team member.
