Primary role: Seeking an experienced CPA for a busy farm/real estate company located in the Carolinas. The job description entails managing the financial affairs of the businesses, analyzing financial statements, advising on financial management practices, having an understanding of the unique accounting needs of the industry like inventory management of livestock and crops, government programs, and seasonal fluctuations in income, preparing accurate financial statements for the operation, analyzing financial data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and profitability potential, advising on tax strategies, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, analyzing production costs and identifying areas for cost reduction.
Job Responsibilities
Aid in preparation of financial reports and cash flow budget projections
Analyze feasibility of capital investments (i.e. large equipment, facilities, land)
Oversee the design and maintenance of the farm’s systems including historical operating, financial data, trend comparisons
Serve as primary liaison with owners and others
Provide oversight to fuel tax reports
Arrange loans for operating and capital purposes
Provide financial expertise and support to owners in estate plan implementation assist in implementation of business ownership strategies
Monitor grain and livestock markets, keep updated records of current inventory positions and future production to be marketed; market commodities
Manage insurance program coverage for crop, casualty, medical and company funded life purposes; maintain history of claims experience, loss to premium ratios
Monitor USDA federal farm program provisions and insure compliance in annual cropping plans; file necessary crop plans, production reports and landlord distribution information
Licenses/Certificates - CPA would be desirable but not required
