Job Summary
At Alfa, we are looking for talented and motivated individuals who share our passion for excellence and customer satisfaction. As a Farm/Commercial Underwriter, you will be part of a dynamic team that works closely with our sales force to provide them with the best service possible. You will have the opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge to evaluate and underwrite various farm and commercial products. You will also be able to make quick and thoughtful decisions, handle multiple tasks, and adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced work environment.
Responsibilities
Maintain an existing book of farm and commercial business and develop new business which is both profitable and reasonably stable for the company.
Determine what risks the company will assume, the premium to be charged for the risks assumed, and the policy terms and conditions under which the risk will be assumed.
Maintain underwriting discipline by underwriting new business, renewals, and changes while maintaining an acceptable loss ratio.
Maintains a professional and courteous working relationship with the underwriting department, agency force, customers, and home office personnel.
Maintains acceptable standards with regards to time management and production.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or 5 years insurance experience and CPCU designation required.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Ability to make independent decisions (analytical in nature).
Ability to convey ideas to others.
Ability to learn quickly.
Possess basic mathematical skills.
