    Job Description:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fiber Technician to join our dynamic team. As a Fiber Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic systems, ensuring they meet industry standards and client specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fiber optic technology and possess hands-on experience in troubleshooting, splicing, and testing fiber networks.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Installation and Setup:

    Install, splice, and terminate fiber optic cables according to customer specifications.

    Perform optical power measurements, signal integrity testing, and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems.

    Set up and test all related equipment such as optical time-domain reflectometers (OTDRs), fusion splicers, and other diagnostic tools.

    Maintenance and Repair:

    Diagnose and repair fiber optic network failures, outages, and defects.

    Perform regular maintenance to ensure optimal network performance.

    Document and log work performed, including detailed reports of service calls, installations, and maintenance.

    Technical Support:

    Provide on-site technical support for customers and internal teams.

    Work closely with engineering teams to help improve fiber optic network designs and implementations.

    Safety and Compliance:

    Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, ANSI).

    Follow proper safety protocols during fiber optic installations and repairs.

    Collaboration and Training:

    Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to ensure project milestones are met.

    Mentor and assist junior technicians by sharing your expertise.

    Qualifications:

    Experience:

    Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience working with fiber optic systems (installation, maintenance, troubleshooting).

    Experience with fiber splicing, termination, and testing (OTDR, power meters, etc.).

    Technical Skills:

    In-depth knowledge of fiber optic principles, equipment, and troubleshooting techniques.

    Familiarity with various types of fiber (single-mode and multi-mode) and their applications.

    Certifications (Preferred but not required):

    Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certification or equivalent.

    Industry-specific certifications or training related to fiber optics.

    Physical Requirements:

    Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.

    Comfortable using hand tools and working with various fiber optic tools and equipment.

    Soft Skills:

    Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

    Excellent communication skills to interact with both customers and internal teams.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
