    Job Overview:

    We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Technician to join our NerdsToGo Plano team. In this role, you’ll install, maintain, and repair fiber-optic systems for our clients, ensuring high-speed, reliable connectivity. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team dedicated to supporting local businesses and individuals with top-tier technical solutions.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber-optic cables in various environments, including commercial and residential settings.

    Conduct site surveys to assess fiber installation needs and design optimal solutions.

    Troubleshoot and repair fiber systems, resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime for clients.

    Use specialized equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, and fusion splicers to ensure system performance.

    Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including diagrams, test results, and system configurations.

    Collaborate with the NerdsToGo team to deliver seamless customer experiences.

    Follow all safety protocols and adhere to industry and company standards for fiber installation and maintenance.

    Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications are a plus.

    Proven experience in fiber-optic installation, splicing, and testing.

    Familiarity with fiber-optic tools and equipment, including OTDRs and fusion splicers.

    Strong problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.

    Excellent communication and customer service skills.

    Ability to work in various environments, including outdoors, at heights, and in confined spaces.

    Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

    Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Fiber Optic Certification (e.g., FOA, CFOT, or similar).

    Knowledge of telecommunications and IT networking.

    Experience with structured cabling and fiber infrastructure design.
