    Job Description

    Function as the key technical expert for customers and sales channel. Focus on increasing both the quantity and quality of our SEMI sales to customers through technical expertise and assistance in current sales efforts, as well as innovation for new product development.

    Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of tasks in several areas of applications engineering:

    • Provide pre-sale and post-sale technical support to manage customized burn-in sockets for the semiconductor industry.
    • Accompany sales staff on visits to customer sites to identify and understand customer needs.
    • Qualify and Communicate product opportunities.
    • Coordinate with engineering, sales and marketing to thoroughly understand internal capabilities, evolving product lines, and company goals.
    • Review customer requests to determine if standard product offerings meet form, fit and function requirements, or if additional customization is required.
    • On a per project basis, write outlines defining specific product requirements for sales to quote, and for engineering and manufacturing to execute in production.
    • Work with PLM to review product costs, margins, etc.
    • Maintain and communicate understanding of technical trends driving our markets and competition as well as track customer roadmaps.
    • Develop detailed specifications and application notes for new products; contribute content to technical collateral materials.
    • Maintain customer files for use by global FAE’s and other departments.
    • Review customer complaints and issues with products in the field to help triage next course of action with internal teams.
    • Educate sales staff or any other internal/external personnel about both new and existing products.
    • Compliance and participation in all Smiths Interconnect EHS programs, policies, procedures and training requirements.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electronics, or electrical engineering and/or direct professional experiences in a related background of five years required. On the job training will also be provided .
    • Ability to maintain customer accounts and sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
    • The understanding and recognition of the organizations commercial environment and positioning themselves, their role and their actions in order to support the organizations commercial success.
    • Possess strong written and verbal skills including public speaking and presentation.
    • Requires good aptitude for mechanical design concepts and problem solving with constantly changing product functionality.

    Travel %: Domestic/International travel up to 50%.
