For over 100 years, Maguire Iron has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Quality Control & Safety Inspector will perform regular job site safety inspections to ensure field crews & sub-contractors are complying with Maguire’s safety program and policies. They will also perform quality inspections on completed work.
Essential Functions: Safety
- Performs regular job site safety inspections to ensure field crews comply with Maguire Iron’s safety program policies and procedures to include but not limited to the following:
- Personal Protective Equipment: Safety glasses, hard hats, face shields, respirators (air fed & cartridge) and hearing protection, steel toed boots/shoes, long sleeves/leathers etc.
- Fall Protection: Harness, shock absorbing lanyards, safety lines, safety climb systems etc.
- Rigging & Cranes: All rigging per SOP manual, cables, rope falls, roof ladders & pick boards backed up to separate rigging points, cables and ropes inspected for defects; scaffolds properly set up, ball properly supported, hoisting/picks executed per SOP manual.
- Line of Fire: Tag lines used, no exterior work when crane company on site, no one in line of fire when grinding/gouging, gas cylinders secured, O2 & Acetylene separated.
- Training/Administration: Weekly safety meetings, pre-job site evaluations, weekly job site inspections, daily inspection of PPE, confined space entry, job site housekeeping.
- Complete and record field safety documentation forms.
- Inform, instruct, and document field crew on inspection findings.

Essential Functions: Quality Control
- NACE Certified
- Visually inspect field sandblast and painting operations.
- Measure sandblast profile according to contract specifications
- Measure paint wet mil & DFT according to contract specifications
- Conduct maintenance program visual inspections
- Complete and record field quality inspection forms
- Inform, instruct, and document field crew on inspection findings
The ideal candidate must have working knowledge of all job specific operating procedures, be extremely quality conscious and detail oriented, have a minimum of three years sandblasting and painting experience, have one to two years of safety experience, accept responsibility and account for own actions, have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, be able to build solid relationships with internal and external customers, be dependable and trustworthy, and have basic computer skills.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work outside in both a hot and cold environment.
- Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
- Must be able to see details at close range.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse construction sites by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
- Must be able to climb up to heights of 200 feet.
