CEC Motor and Utility Services has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Field Utility Worker at our Service Center in Palmetto, FL. Hours • Monday - Friday (7:00 am - 3:30 pm) Pay Frequency • Weekly FLSA Status : • Non-Exempt Work Environment: • Work is primarily performed outdoors. Conditions can include exposure to inclement weather, working next to open wet wells, public roadways, lift stations, manholes, trenches, sewage, and various chemicals. Employees may also be exposed to direct sunlight, dampness, noise, heavy machinery, and mechanical and electrical equipment. Physical Demands: • Must be able to move items weighing up to 65 pounds regularly, traverse rough terrain, and work in or over water/wastewater, heights, or confined spaces. • Must be able to work in various physical positions including sitting, squatting, standing, walking, and driving. Reporting Relationships : • The Utility Worker reports to the Utilities Manager. Note: This position requires drug, background, and motor vehicle record screening. Responsibilities: • Expose and excavate utility piping. • Enter into confined spaces to access wastewater wet wells for demolition. • Carry out a range of trades, including carpentry, concrete work, pipework, plumbing, grading, and landscaping. • Keep the job site neat and secure by collecting and storing all tools and equipment. • Aid in the loading and unloading of trucks and hoisting of materials. • Utilize tools properly and safely. • Follow and transmit both oral and written instructions. • Work as part of a team and independently. • Follow safety protocols at all times. Qualifications: • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and at least two (2) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and relevant experience. • Must demonstrate the physical capability to engage in strenuous labor for long periods, including the capacity to maneuver uneven terrain, work at heights or in confined spaces, over water/wastewater, and carry up to 65 pounds as necessary. • Extensive knowledge of underground/utility construction including trenching and excavation, pipe installation, equipment used, safe digging operations, OSHA requirements, and confined space entry. • Must have the ability to interpret and react to audible signals of danger. • Demonstrate skill in working independently and efficiently completing tasks according to a schedule. • Show proficiency in operating heavy machinery and tools safely and effectively. • Demonstrate the verbal and written communication skills necessary to understand and follow instructions, as well as articulate information. • Prove to be reliable and consistent with attendance and punctuality. • Possess the capacity to collaborate with a team. • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record. Compensation: $20 - $23 hourly
