Job Description
Our ideal candidate must have knowledge of national and regional laws on payroll and taxes. Familiarity with payroll process and reporting is required. The candidate will also have Accounts Receivable experience, particularly in maintaining relationships with customers and conducting collection activities daily. The candidate will also be tasked with general accounting responsibilities associated with month end closing. This position is required to work onsite in our Walpole Office Monday - Friday
Responsibilities and Duties
· Process Payroll checks on a bi-weekly basis using ADP.
· Create bi-weekly payroll worksheets for review by executive management.
· Calculate net salaries, deductions, and withholdings.
· Resolve payroll issues and respond to employee questions concerning payroll.
· Process holiday deductions and overtime earnings. Maintain accurate records for PTO and sick time accruals.
· Participate in payroll and risk insurance audits.
· Maintain organized files for payroll and risk management records and audits.
· Monitor Accounts Receivable aging daily to proactively identify potential issues.
· Research problem accounts and contact customers via phone and e-mail to resolve payment issues.
· Actively track problem customer accounts and document all communications.
· Create daily remote deposits and accurately credit customer accounts in Sage 50.
· Attend monthly A/R meetings and speak to collection progress.
· Participate in month end closing process including journal entries, account reconciliations, and reporting duties.
· File state sales taxes on a monthly/quarterly and annual basis.
· Maintain up to date tax rates for state and county jurisdictions for billing department.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
· A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or relevant field
· Three or more years’ experience in a similar role
· Understanding local and government rules about payroll
· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
· Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
· Strong communication skills
· Aptitude for math, proficiency with computers
· Experience in software platforms such as ADP/ Sage 50 is helpful
· All prospective employees must pass a background check, pre-employment drug test and be authorized to work in the U.S.
· Position is ONSITE in Walpole, MA
