Title: Finance Associate
Company Overview:
Our client is a private investment firm specializing in commercial real estate debt and equity investments. The firm operates in major markets and invests on behalf of institutional and high-net-worth clients.
Reports to: Assistant Controller and Vice President of Finance
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct financial reviews and prepare quarterly fair value reports for real estate assets.
- Review monthly asset trial balances and prepare necessary adjusting journal entries.
- Ensure accuracy in monthly property management general ledgers.
- Prepare asset workpapers for Fund Administrators, including consolidated financials and fair value adjustments, while resolving any issues that may arise.
- Generate quarterly financial reports for lenders related to leveraged assets.
- Manage vendor invoicing and cash management for all funds and the management company.
- Prepare weekly reports detailing invoices to be paid, cash needs, and necessary cash movements within the fund structure.
- Prepare journal entries for the management company.
- Assist in expense allocation and bill-backs to funds.
- Contribute to the preparation and review of routine financial reporting for Real Estate and Credit funds, including GAAP basis financial statements and investor capital statements.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Controller and VP of Finance to update internal fund models for workpaper reviews.
- Support the ongoing management of capital commitments and compliance with loan covenants.
- Assist team members with various ad-hoc projects, including due diligence questionnaire completion during fundraising and monthly/quarterly investor requests.
Relevant Skill Sets and Experience:
- Experience in accounting for commercial real estate or commercial real estate loans within a private equity or similar environment is preferred; strong candidates with private equity experience will also be considered.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in a public accounting firm or private organization is required. CPA status is a plus but not necessary.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to present data clearly and concisely.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel is essential; familiarity with Word and PowerPoint is also needed.
- This position requires a motivated self-starter capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Compensation: 120-140k base + bonus
