Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Controller who will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of our financial operations. This individual will take a hands-on approach to both bookkeeping and accounting, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, supporting decision-making processes, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles, experience in bookkeeping, and the ability to manage complex financial operations in a manufacturing environment. The Finance Controller will work closely with senior management to ensure that all financial reports, audits, and forecasts are executed efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping & Financial Records Management:
Manage daily accounting operations, including bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and reconciliations.
Ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions, including sales, purchases, payroll, and other operational costs.
Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and strategic financial plans.
Tax Compliance & Filing:
Ensure all business taxes (sales tax, income tax, etc.) are calculated, filed, and paid accurately and on time.
Assist in tax audits and support financial audits to ensure compliance with internal and external financial regulations.
State Payroll Compliance:
Ensure compliance with state payroll tax regulations, including correct state income tax withholdings, unemployment insurance, and other state-specific taxes.
File state payroll tax returns, including quarterly and annual filings, to ensure timely and accurate reporting and payments.
Maintain adherence to state labor laws related to payroll, such as minimum wage, overtime, and paid leave.
Oversee the reporting and management of worker’s compensation insurance as required by the state.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
Develop, implement, and review internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and prevent fraud.
Continuously assess and improve financial processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, operations and sales, to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
Financial Analysis & Decision Support:
Provide actionable financial analysis, identifying key business drivers, variances from budget, and areas for cost savings.
Assist with financial decision-making, cost-benefit analysis, and pricing strategies.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and finance, with at least 2 years in a managerial or controller role.
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in a technology-driven industry.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), financial reporting, and bookkeeping.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, or similar platforms) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
