    About the Organization: United Way of the Greater Capital Region, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families in the Capital Region of New York, seeks a Finance Manager.

    Job Description: The Finance Manager is responsible for all aspects of accounting and producing monthly financial statements, applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, preparing accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Manage the timely and accurate gathering, processing, recording and analyzing of financial information needed to prepare monthly financial statements.

    Prepare monthly financial statements.

    Review and maintain general ledger accounts and accurately reflect the financial activity of

    the organization in accordance with GAAP.

    Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.

    In coordination with the CFO, ensure the financial activity associated with grants are accounted

    for accurately and classified appropriately.

    Develop and monitor business performance metrics.

    Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes as needed.

    Continuously improve internal control structure and procedures to enhance efficiency and transparency.

    Hire, train, retain and supervise Finance staff.

    Assist in the annual budget process as needed.

    Prepare for annual audit and assist auditors as needed.

    Complete special projects and tasks as requested by CFO.

    Qualifications:

    · Displays cognitive skills (written and oral communications, logic, judgment, teamwork, mobility, and manual dexterity).

    · Working knowledge of general accepted accounting principles and financial reporting/budgeting in a non-profit environment.

    · Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet project deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.

    · Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

    · Demonstrated ability to mediate or work with a group to reach consensus, effectively solve problems, make decisions or accomplish tasks.

    · Demonstrated ability to make sound and timely decisions in a disciplined and systematic manner by basing decisions on available information supported by overall organizational or departmental goals and priorities.

    · Experience providing instruction, guidance, or counsel as needed to help an individual improve his/her performance or learn new skills.

    Education and/or Experience:

    1. BA Accounting degree and minimum of 3-5 years relevant accounting experience.

    2. Proficient skill in computer software programs and applications designed for financial management.

    3. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products.

    4. Supervisory experience required.

    5. Experience with QuickBooks desktop and Bill.com a plus.
