  • Responsibilities

    Overview:

    Financial Aid Processors and Reviewers play a vital role in ensuring that students receive the financial aid they are eligible for by evaluating applications, analyzing financial situations, and complying with federal, state, and institutional regulations. This role also involves supporting continuing students by completing and resubmitting their aid packages. This role is essential to ensuring that students receive the support they need, while also maintaining compliance and operational excellence within the financial aid department.

    Essential Functions:

    · Evaluate financial aid applications and determine eligibility based on federal, state, and institutional requirements.

    · Ensure accuracy and completeness of submitted documentation.

    · Analyze students’ financial situations and needs to determine the most appropriate aid package, including grants, loans, and work-study.

    · Complete and resubmit aid packages for continuing students, ensuring they receive timely and accurate adjustments to their aid as needed for each academic year. Review prior award year to ensure accuracy in funding and billing and prepare new award year packaging.

    · Monitor applications and ensure students receive necessary information, services, and funding in a timely manner.

    · Provide guidance to students, parents, and staff on financial aid programs, application processes, deadlines, and eligibility requirements, as needed.

    · Stay up to date with and comply with all federal and state financial aid regulations, loan lender policies, and U.S. Department of Education guidelines.

    · Process various types of financial aid applications, including Federal Direct Loans, Pell Grants, and private loan applications.

    · Reconcile over-awards and adjust aid packages as necessary to ensure proper distribution of funds.

    · Confirm student enrollment status and academic progress to ensure continued financial aid eligibility.

    · Generate reports to assist in tracking loan applications, disbursements, and compliance with institutional and government regulations.

    · Assign tasks based on workload and to campus team members, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

    Education, Experience, and Training:

    · Minimum: Associate degree and/or relevant work experience.

    · Previous experience with student packaging for continuing students.

    · Familiarity with financial aid processing tools like COD (Common Origination and Disbursement and NSLDS (National Student Loan Data System).

    · The physical demands are those required in a professional office setting: sitting, working on a computer, using a telephone, communicating with coworkers and getting to and from appropriate campuses.
