Job Description
Job Title: Financial Analyst
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
JOB PURPOSE: The Financial Analyst is a member of the accounting team that cross collaborates heavily with operations, marketing and IT. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining food costing models, transparency and understanding of our product costs, commodity market forecasts, inventory analysis and management. Compile and distribute reports daily, weekly and monthly on critical cost controls related to food cost with a strong focus on analytics and insights. This role is the subject matter expert on cost of goods sold (COGS) and works with a cross-functional team to understand COGS impact to the bottom-line. The analyst will also be responsible for recipe and pricing maintenance in our inventory systems. This position requires being self-motivated, resourceful, and having the demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment amongst all levels of management.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Prepares statistical reports and analyses food cost to ensure cost controls are in place and effective.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), highlight trends and research causes of unexpected variances.
- Prepares all product cost reports with explanation and investigation of variances on a timely basis.
- Work alongside operations and marketing to analyze data and reports to pull meaningful insights, identify trends, validate business decisions/changes and make recommendations to the business leaders.
- Provides detailed sales daypart performance analysis regarding sales, customer count and average check by daypart. As well as additional ad-hoc marketing analysis.
- Produces periodic ranking reports for key cost items on period and YTD basis and provides recommendations for future promotions and menu changes.
- Takes an active role in recommending and suggesting promo and menu item pricing based on specific food cost targets. Perform competitor pricing analysis.
- Maintenance of recipe database to include ownership of all new recipe builds, ongoing recipe adjustments, with regular database audits conducted for updated to yield data and standard costs in collaboration with operations. Ensure all new items in POS are correctly linked to recipes in the ERP.
- Responsible for auditing store inventory in person each quarter to ensure completion and integrity of process.
- Effectively communicate with operations and store management personnel to resolve issues, answer questions, and ensure accurate reporting of food cost.
- Confirm store inventory posting in system and record all COGS related journal entries and reconciliations.
- Maintains fixed asset database and general ledger, recording fixed asset acquisition, transfer, and disposal activities. Audits WIP activity to confirm AP invoices meet capitalization policy standards. Reconciles all fixed asset related accounts. Prepares and distributes capital expenditure reporting and forecasting.
- Maintain various general ledger account reconciliations and prepare corresponding journal entries.
- Assists with preparing budgets, audit and tax-related inquiries, projects, and period end reports.
- Expected to build effective relationships across the various functions of the business. (e.g. Leadership, Marketing, Operations, Accounting, IT etc.)
- Highly organized, detail oriented and demonstrate flexibility to handle multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• 1-3 years of experience working in restaurant industry, corporate office
• Ctuit is required. R365 is desired.
• Bachelor's degree in business/accounting/finance or related field with 2+ years' experience in accounting/finance roles (or 5+ years of experience if no degree)
• Advanced excel skills and general ledger ERP system experience
• Ability to handle, control, and resolve difficult situations with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to handle multiple deadlines and projects independently
