    ORGANIZATIONAL INFORMATION

    Avenues for Youth is a non-profit organization providing emergency shelter, transitional housing, and various housing programs for youth and young families experiencing housing instability and homelessness. With a mission to partner with youth experiencing homelessness to achieve their dreams, Avenues operates multiple programs throughout the Twin Cities.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Overview

    The Financial Operations Associate is a part-time position designed to support the Director of Finance in managing the day-to-day financial operations of Avenues for Youth. This role will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting financial reporting and analysis, with a particular focus on the ongoing capacity campaign for building a new shelter and headquarters.

    Financial Operations

    • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
    • Assist with payroll processing and related tasks
    • Assist with credit card expense tracking & approval
    • Support monthly and year-end closing procedures
    • Assist in preparing financial reports and statements

    Grant Management

    • Help track expenses related to government grants and other funding sources
    • Assist in preparing financial documentation for grant reporting requirements

    Capacity Campaign Support

    • Track and maintain records for the capacity campaign budget and financing
    • Assist in preparing financial reports related to the new facility project

    Donation Management

    • Assist with in-kind donations
    • Assist with recording & tracking donations

    General Administrative Support

    • Maintain organized financial files and records
    • Assist with audit preparation by gathering necessary documentation
    • Support the Director of Finance in preparing materials for Board Finance Committee meetings
    • Support organizational procurement / online ordering

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education & Experience

    • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred
    • 2-3 years of experience in financial operations, preferably in a non-profit setting

    OR

    • 5 years of experience in nonprofit Financial Operations without degree

    Skills & Attributes

    • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial calculations
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
    • Knowledge of non-profit accounting principles and practices
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands are minimal and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations. This job requires sitting for long periods, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds

    Pay Range : $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
