    How will your role impact First Command?


    The Financial Services Data Intern is part-time role responsible for practicing their data processes knowledge and skills in a professional setting. This position will collaborate with multiple teams such as Financial Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Commission Accounting, and Business Information Services to complete responsibilities for a high-growth integrated financial services organization focused on our nation’s military and their families. Their duties include supporting the Financial Services department with various projects and tasks as they gain experience and confidence within their desired profession.


    What will you do in this role?


    · Prepare factsheets for all data-sources used by Finance to support solution architecture inquiries

    · Collaborate with Finance team members on defining datapoints while following data stewards’ practices

    · Collaborate on Product Profitability dashboard mockups to be further developed by BIS data team

    · Implement Altryx queries for Advisor Compensation to replace current Microsoft Excel and Access processes

    · Work with the Finance systems to research various issues

    · Gather knowledge regarding the roles and responsibilities of Finance department

    · Develop an understanding of how Finance helps business units with strategy and overall goals

    · The position(s) is in Fort Worth, Texas, with an expectation to be in the office Tuesday – Thursday every week

    What skills & qualifications do you need?

    Education

    · Pursuing undergraduate with computer science or data analytics degree.

    · Minimum GPA of 3.0


    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    · Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

    · Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (comfortable with VLOOKUP function, Pivot Tables and Power Query)

    · Strong verbal and written communications skills

    • Additionally, knowledge of/experience in Altryx, PowerBI, Microsoft Access and SQL Databases would be viewed as a positive

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Experience:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    Math Ability:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Computer Skills:

    Basic computer skills (windows, medical record software, MS Office, etc.) with proficient data entry skills of 40-50 wpm, in addition to basic knowledge of standard office equipment.
