    _ Job Description:_

    In this position you will:

    1. Analyzes blueprints, schematics, and drawings of fire alarm and/or other related electrical systems for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems.

    2. Inspects fire alarm equipment visually and replaces defective components; tests initiating and signal circuits ,detectors, and systems transmitter, and makes needed repairs.

    3. Coordinates with assigned Foreman and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.

    4. Diagnoses causes of electrical problems or failures in assigned systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or system repair.

    5. Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with health and building regulations.

    6. Inspects electrical/fire alarm/mass notification systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs, and recommending preventative maintenance.

    7. Installs electrical system components as assigned (e.g. panels, audible/visual alarms, pull stations, detectors, etc.) for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded system capabilities.

    8. Maintains assigned vehicle, tools, and test equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability of equipment in the workplace.

    9. Monitors the electrical/fire alarm/mass notification system work of outside contractors for the purpose of ensuring that the projects are satisfactorily completed and within local/state/federal and district codes ,regulations, and specifications.

    10. Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

    11. Prepares written materials for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.

    12. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    - Five or more years of work experience as a Fire Alarm System Mechanic

    - Ability to manage and accurately track material resources and time, and adapt to changing work priorities;

    -Ability to estimate time and materials ,and manage resources;

    -Demonstrated organizational ,problem-solving and common-sense skills;

    -Ability to work safely;

    - Customer service skills to act responsively to customer inquiries and requests, and escalate the more difficult matters appropriately;

    -Communication skills:

    To provide procedural and factual information ,and to follow instructions;

    - Flexibility to build effective working relationships with staff, customers and others.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    High School Diploma or GED

    Technical/other training

    Additional Information

    Hourly Rate: $25.00 an hour

    CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED :

    The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:

    Valid Driver's License

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

    Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or with out assistance:

    • Maneuvering in and around equipment

    • Bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, crawling

    • Pushing ,pulling ,and lifting up to 35pounds

    • May be required to climb ladders and/or step stools

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Work is performed at a customer’s location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility.

    Employees may be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.
